Will artificial intelligence become a driver of sustainable transformation, or a new challenge for responsible corporate leadership? What role can and should AI play in sustainability management in the future? Questions like these are becoming more important. AI is no longer only a technology topic; it is becoming a strategic question of management and leadership.
The programme:
The CSM Summer Campus “AI for Change Agents” at Leuphana University Lüneburg addresses exactly this intersection. From 17 to 21 August 2026, participants come together on campus for an intensive in-person week to combine AI skills with sustainability expertise and to think about both topics strategically.
What participants can expect:
- A compact learning week with plenty of room for exchange – expert input, intensive workshops and five days of practice and use cases
- Knowledge and perspectives from three worlds: teaching staff from universities, companies and NGOs – including Prof. Stefan Schaltegger, Prof. Paul Drews (Research Centre for Digital Transformation, Leuphana), Anita Schüttler (Bundesverband Green Software e.V.), Laurie Servais (Airbus), Stephanie Hackenholt (KPMG), Prof. Florian Lüdeke-Freund (ESCP Business School) and information-systems specialist Dr Eva Gengler (FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg)
- A well-stocked toolbox: AI literacy, a solid grounding in ethical AI, green AI and the limits of AI systems, practical examples and concrete use cases for sustainability management and future-ready corporate leadership
- Evening event: Film evening and discussion at the Scala cinema

Educational leave (Bildungsurlaub) at Leuphana
This compact continuing-education format is aimed at specialists and managers from all departments who want to shape sustainable transformation and use AI responsibly. Educational leave (5 days) can be applied for in order to take part.
Alongside the in-person week, the summer campus includes a self-study phase and an optional exam. On successful completion, participants can earn 5 credit points. For anyone who wants to go further afterwards, the CSM Summer Campus can be the first step towards the MBA in Sustainability Management, and the credit points can be credited if you start the MBA later.
