Using the university sports program as an alumnus

Through AFL membership, alumni can also take part in the University Sports Centre’s programme at a reduced rate. Since the winter semester 2024/25, we have made registration much easier.

Until now, you first had to buy a user card before you could register for courses. From now on, the following procedure applies:

You need no access card in advance any more.
You can book courses directly.
When you register, under Status “Extern – Uninah” enter “Alumni”.
When prompted for your matriculation number, enter a code. You can request this code from the AFL.
You save 50% of the surcharge for external participants on every course booking.

The University Sports Centre team will review your booking.

Who can become a member of the Alumni and Friends Association?

The AFL is aimed at students, alumni, staff and lecturers of the university and its predecessor institutions. Students and alumni from all disciplines of Leuphana University Lüneburg, the University of Lüneburg, FH Nordostniedersachsen and the University of Education can become members. Companies and organisations that wish to cooperate with the association can join as supporting members.
How can I become a member of the Alumni and Friends Association?

For membership in the Alumni and Friends Association, you simply need to complete the application form and send it to the board. Membership takes effect once the written declaration of admission has been submitted.
You can find the membership application, for example, via the “Become a member” button or via the menu item “About the association” → “Become a member”.
What does membership cost?

Membership costs €35 per year for graduates, lecturers and staff, and €7 per year for students. Membership fees are tax-deductible. Your bank statement is generally sufficient as a donation receipt. If you need any additional information, please contact afl@leuphana.de.
Are supporting memberships possible?

Companies and organizations can become supporting members of the AFL. Please contact the association's board for more information.
Are membership fees tax-deductible?

The AFL is a non-profit association. Membership fees are therefore tax-deductible. Your bank statement is generally sufficient as a donation receipt. If you need any additional information, please contact afl@leuphana.de.
What are membership fees used for?

Membership fees are used to achieve the AFL’s goals.
Our aims include organising events for knowledge transfer between theory and practice, supporting research and teaching, funding projects by alumni, students and student initiatives, and strengthening the network for exchange between graduates and students — and much more.
