On 2 June 2025 there was a first in the history of the AFL: for the first time, a Meet & Eat we organised took place as part of Hamburg Sustainability Week (HSW). Besides us, the 23grad Network for Environmental and Sustainability Sciences e.V. took part in the event.

At the Impact Hub on Gänsemarkt in Hamburg, two Hamburg sustainability consultants joined the discussion with us: Dr Merlin Köhnke (Five Glaciers Consulting) and Kathrin Jansen (Cambria Consulting) first clarified a few basic questions (What is sustainability? What statutory rules are there? What are tipping points? What are planetary boundaries?).

It quickly became clear that we had interested, discussion-hungry participants who asked many questions and shared their own experience. After a short break at the delicious vegan buffet there was another lively round of discussion.

Heartfelt thanks to Merlin Köhnke and Kathrin Jansen for an inspiring evening, to the Impact Hub team for the on-site preparation, and to auguste.berta for the delicious catering and, last but not least, to Hamburg Sustainability Week for including us in the programme and for the generous financial support.

We look forward to next time!
