Events by and with the AFL

Throughout the year, the Alumni and Friends Association of Leuphana University Lüneburg e.V. (AFL) organizes and funds a variety of academic and social events to foster connections between academia and practice and to strengthen the community and contact among alumni and students.

Each event begins with a short presentation on a current topic, followed by a discussion.

2023

In March 2023, the AFL hosted a Meet & Eat in Hamburg's HafenCity with a brunch on the topic Tea meditation with the start-up MindVacations

The AFL board attended the graduation ceremony in June 2023 with a reminder of how important networking is in a world of change.

The Dies Academicus took place on 7 July 2023.

For the 2023 annual general meeting the AFL invited members to Fieda’s at the water tower in Lüneburg on 7 October 2023, with lunch and a city walk afterwards.

On 19 October 2023, an interactive Meet & Eat took place at Trattoria Mama in Hamburg on the topic “Leading Well: healthy leadership in the age of New Work” with Benjamin Rolff of the New Performance Academy.

At the graduation ceremony in November 2023 Deputy Chair of the AFL board Regina Graß gave a speech.

In 2023, the AFL supported two Deutschlandstipendium scholarships.


2018

2017

On 25 October 2017, the AFL hosted a Meet & Eat on the topic “Developing your career through networking with XING, LinkedIn and more” in Hamburg. 

On 28 September 2017, the sixth Online Marketing Conference took place on the campus of Leuphana University Lüneburg. The Alumni and Friends Association was there too. 

On 17 July 2017, the AFL hosted a Meet & Eat in Hamburg. The evening’s topic: Digitalisation and educational institutions — a love-hate relationship. 

The AFL was a partner of the second German AMZ Sales Congresswhich took place in Würzburg on 6 and 7 July 2017. 

On 5 July 2017, the annual Dies Academicus took place at Leuphana again. The AFL sponsored the prize for voluntary engagement. 

From 1 to 2 July 2017, the fourth Homecoming Open Air took place on the Leuphana campus in Lüneburg. Despite the rain, the event was a great success. 

We were there! At the Leuphana Charity Run on 25 June 2017. The AFL team ran to help fund travel tickets for refugees. 

On 17 June 2017, around 400 graduates celebrated as part of the graduation ceremony their graduation in the Leuphana central building for the first time. The AFL was there with a photo booth. 

At the Meet & Eat on 29 May, we spoke with Christian Heise about “innovation in the media industry” and the future of (digital) journalism. 

On 23 May 2017, the Alumni and Friends Association was once again part of the FOR YOUR CAREER fair. This year’s topic: connecting former Lüneburg students via LinkedIn. 

The Alumni and Friends Association used the open day in the Leuphana central building on 20 May for a meeting with members and former students.

On 8 April 2017 the annual annual general meeting of the AFL took place. Over breakfast together at the Bergström, a new board was elected. 

At the first Leuphana family gathering on 18 January 2017 in Berlin, Hiltrud Lotze gave a talk, followed by a relaxed exchange. 


2016

After the Google Event on campus, on 14 December 2016 more than 40 alumni, representatives of the Lüneburg Marketing Club and university lecturers came together for a get-together.

On 6 December 2016 the first international regulars’ table took place in Singapore. At the Marina Bay Sands rooftop bar, alumni enjoyed the view in pleasant temperatures.

How can virtual and augmented reality be used in business? This was the question that, on 8 September 2016, the event’s participants explored. Alumnus Sven Samplatzki gave a talk on the topic.

22 to 24 April 2016 — For three days, students worked in groups to develop a concept for a viable start-up.
